About Persia Learning
Made by editors, journalists and native-speaker teachers who have lived and worked in Iran.
For years, our team has written about everyday life in Iran: how to rent a flat, open a bank account, get around the city, and make sense of a country that is often misunderstood. Again and again, our readers asked the same question: where can I learn the Persian people actually speak?
Persia Learning is our answer. It is built on three convictions.
Teach the language people really use
Most Persian courses teach the written, formal language and leave learners baffled the first time they hear a real conversation. We teach the spoken Tehrani Persian you’ll hear on the street, at the dinner table and on Iranian TV, and we show you the written form side by side, so you can handle both.
Make it practical
Our lessons are built around real situations, drawn from our own experience of living and working in Iran: ordering at the bakery, bargaining in the bazaar, navigating taarof at a family gathering, reading a metro map.
Go deeper than any app
Language is a way into a culture. That’s why our courses run from your first salām all the way to reading the Iranian press, understanding the proverbs people drop into conversation, and reading Hafez with a native speaker.
Who we are
Our courses are written by editors and journalists who read Persian every day for work, and recorded and taught by native-speaker tutors from Tehran. Every lesson is checked by a native speaker before it’s published.
